Katie Sarah, an Adelaide mother of three is the first woman in the world to complete the death-defying Seven-Seven challenge, previously a men's only club.
This means that as well as successfully climbing Mt Everest in 2010, Katie is one of the few Australian women to summit the highest peak on each of the world’s seven continents.
The unstoppable mum-of-three has now climbed not only the highest mountain on all seven continents, but also the seven highest volcanic peaks.
Only seven other climbers, all of them men, have achieved the same victory.
While working in finance and accounting and raising three sons, Sarah first became a triathlete and a marathon runner.
Her love of outdoor pursuits saw her take a role in adventure travel, which ultimately led to her becoming an altitude climber.
In 2007 Sarah was the first Australian woman to summit Mt Himlung in Nepal.
Her business, Sarah Mountain Journeys, offers personalised international wilderness expeditions, specialising in the Himalayas of Nepal and Tibet, Tanzania and South America.
