From the District Governor
As we approach the end of 2018 and the halfway mark of our Rotary year it is a great time to stop for a moment and reflect on what has been achieved by Rotarians across our District and around the world these last six months.  Imagine the millions of people whose lives have been positively changed forever because as Rotarians we not only cared but we did something about it – as People of Action, Rotarians give the gift of hope, of kindness, of peace all year round.  This has been so evident to Paul and I during our official Club visits which concluded at the beginning of December.  What a great experience it has been for us to meet Rotarians across the District and we are now looking forward to attending and participating in more Club and District activities in the new year.  Thank you to all Rotarians for your warm welcome and your positive response to our Club visits.
This month’s photo gallery ( Click Here ) captures some of the fun at Christmas pageants in Norwood and Victor Harbor – I’m thinking I may be the only DG from 9520 to date to be a fairy on a Rotary float in a Christmas pageant, but I am happy to see the proof if I’m wrong!  I attended a delightful day of orientation for the outgoing long term youth exchange students who fly out in January for an adventure of a lifetime – we wish them a safe and memorable exchange.  I have been fortunate to be part of several new member inductions over the last six months and many Clubs are working hard to attract new members and ensure that all current members have a meaningful and positive experience.  I can’t wait to see what the next six months of this Rotary year brings as we all continue to strive to ‘Be the Inspiration’.
Paul and I extend our very best wishes to you and your family for a joyous Christmas and a happy, healthy new year!
DG Kim

Tip of the Month
This month’s tip comes from President Dini Whyte from the Rotary Club of Morphett Vale. Thanks Dini!
“As we are nearing Christmas I am reminded of the Rotary theme for December “Disease prevention and treatment”. We sometimes forget that not everyone has access to clean water, healthy food, affordable medical treatment and many other things we take for granted. One disease we have nearly beaten is Polio. Why not consider making a donation to the End Polio Now campaign instead of buying a present for someone and then giving them a card telling them that they have just helped to pay for a number of vaccinations. Much healthier for the recipient than a box of chocolate!
https://www.endpolio.org/ -  will take you straight to the opportunity to donate!”
7 Tips for Creating Compelling Social Media Content
