September 2018
This year, The Herald is being published on the 2nd Thursday of the month with stories received up to one week prior.
Articles for this publication should be of Upcoming events; "Rotary In Action" events should be directed to the DG's Newsletter.
Email all articles for either The Herald or the DG's Newsletter to  Articles can either be in the body of the email, or as a Word attachment.  Attach PDF files if that is all you have.  Photographs in either jpg, gif, png or bmp format.
Articles will only be run in the current and next Herald (depending on the event date), after which they will need to be re-submitted.

From the District Governor
Over the last couple of days I have been attending the District Governors’ Symposium in Hobart that precedes the annual Australia and New Zealand Rotary Conference.
Hearing about all that is happening in our region makes me so proud to be part of this amazing organisation, and it has been an absolute delight to share with my classmates the terrific stories of work being carried out by Rotarians in 9520.
I look forward to seeing more of your stories in the DG's Newsletter at the end of the month so please make sure you send your story and photos to
One of the hot topics of discussion here in Hobart has been the End Polio campaign and the need to remain committed to completing what Rotary has started - to eradicate Polio from the face of the earth.  The official End Polio fundraiser movie event this year is ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, based on the story of the band Queen - check out the information included in this newsletter to find out how you can support these events.
As Paul and I move across the District for our DG's visits we are simply blown away by the scope of programs being offered by Clubs and the incredible impact you continue to have on communities both near and far.
Keep up the great work and please continue to Be the Inspiration!

Tip of the Month
Host a Rotary Day
RI President Barry Rassin has asked Clubs and Districts to consider hosting a Rotary Day this year where we have the opportunity to showcase Rotary and Rotarians to members of the general public.
Rather than organising a separate event, Clubs may wish to consider looking at ways to make the best use of their existing events and activities, held in public spaces, to promote the work and FUN of Rotary.  The District has resources in the way of pull up banners and people that can assist your Club in promoting Rotary.
To book a pull up banner from the District’s Property Sheds please contact Peter Hammond, District Secretary at
If you are having a Rotary Day, I’d love to know about it!
