Dear District Governors,
Unfortunately my flight to Christchurch on the Wednesday prior to Conference was delayed by bad weather and I did not arrive in time for my scheduled meeting with your group.
The main purpose of my time with you was to update you all on progress with the Centenary of Rotary in Australia book – to mark our Centenary in 2021.
So, I can now share with you that progress is on schedule with much good work being achieved by our hard working committee.
The main thrust of my message to you was to seek your support as Governors to ensure that no UNIQUE achievement within your District is overlooked.
The Zone History and Archives Committee is determined to ensure that ‘grass roots’ Rotary throughout Australia is fairly and well covered.  This will only happen with the support of your Rotary clubs.
Our request to you is to include a brief message in your District newsletters advising clubs that time is running out and historical editorial and photographs/images should be in the hands of the above committee members by the end of 2019.
Editorial must be brief (200 words maximum) and images may be sent in print or electronic (high resolution) form.
Email addresses of committee members are embedded below and we will appreciate clubs sending material to their nearest regional officer –
Jennifer Scott (The Rotary Foundation) and myself (Bob Aitken) are available for discussion on any specialist topic at any time.  Don’t hesitate to contact any of the committee at any time.
Unlike past historical publications, there will be a heavy emphasis on pictorial history in this volume and such will only be achieved successfully with support from all Districts.  We want to ensure ALL Districts, regions and states are well covered.
With thanks and best wishes,
Bob Aitken AM JP
